Peatland Services

Complete peatland assessment and restoration – from first walkover to post-construction monitoring – anywhere in the UK & Ireland.

How We Work

We combine ecohydrology, engineering and planning support to deliver defensible evidence and workable designs. Our reports are concise, regulator-ready and aligned with contractor realities.

Our Services

Peat Management Plans (PMP)

• Stage 1–3 PMPs covering excavation, storage, reuse and reinstatement.
 • Volumes & peat quality (Von Post), haul routes, stockpiles, reinstatement detail.
• Coordination with design teams and liaison with SEPA, NatureScot, NIEA, NPWS, EA.
• Inputs for Construction Method Statements and Waste Exemptions.

Peat depth & condition surveys

• Depth probing, coring and laboratory support where required.
 • Constraint/opportunity mapping for routeing and micrositing.
Digital datasets and clear plans accepted by regulators and funders.

PLHRA / Peat stability risk

• Phased Peat Slide Hazard Risk Assessment  to inform development evolution
• Desk and field assessment; trigger identification; mitigation options.
•  Routing and layout advice for wind, grid and access infrastructure.
 • Volumes & peat quality (Von Post), haul routes, stockpiles, reinstatement detail.

Restoration feasibility & design

• Drain blocking, bunding, re-profiling, surface roughening, Forest to Bog Restoration, cell bunding, Sphagnum re-establishment and engineered overspills.
• Baseline walkovers and peat condition diagnostics.
• Bog hydrology assessments, UAV photogrammetric surveys
Support for Peatland Code projects – from baseline surveys (peat depth, condition, hydrology) to monitoring and reporting, helping clients unlock funding through certified restoration schemes
• Costed options and contractor-ready specifications.
• Integration with nature-based solutions (river restoration, flood attenuation, rural SuDS).

On-site supervision (Peat Clerk of Works)

• Method statement review, toolbox talks and action logs.
• Drainage and pollution control; bio-oils; refuelling protocols.
• Weekly photo records and regulator liaison.
• UAV surveys for baseline and progress

Hydrology & GWDTE for EIA/EIAR

• Hydrology/EIA chapters aligned to planning requirements.
• GWDTE survey and assessment with clear significance ratings.
• Cross-over with McCloy’s drainage and flood risk expertise.
